Merthyr Cynog Community is a quietly thriving and vibrant area in the heart of historic Wales. The parish extends from the bridge in the picturesque Pontfaen to just north of Castell Madoc, and includes the land to the right of the river in Lower Chapel. Our beautiful rural landscape is a testament to the keen local farmers, many of whom run their farms with children and family pitching in, all adding to the close spirit and tradition of the area. Much of the land consists of the rich red soil famous in this small pocket of Powys.
You can keep up with local events via the Merthyr Cynog Community & Community Hall Facebook page
Many of the events hosted by Merthyr Cynog Community are family orientated, with plenty to do for all age groups. Each year regular get togethers at the local community hall include a New Years shin dig, Easter fun for the children, summer sports and BBQ, as well as the annual harvest supper and ever popular Christmas party! There is always a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere and any support for these events is more than appreciated.
Our Community Council consists of helpful and approachable local residents who can assist you with all your community concerns. We welcome interest from residents and visitors alike and can provide information on all community issues from upcoming events to answering queries or local concerns.
